Prep

Prep for filming has begun !!! Eek ! We are in process for next project .

Tying in our restorative justice theme ! We are ao excited !

On a side note we have seen and it's now been proved that my posts are looking to attract more attention to our page :) (I feel quite proud to be honest )

So my first experiment on the social media and praying on our known audience has worked but doing this has also resulted in gaining more audience members .

Look for a post at the end of the week  for the summary of our After the Accudent project and my filming experience !!

EXCITING !

Streaming

cube theatre have currently been working on a very interesting project.

Members of cube have been helping in rehearsals with our good friends Pipeline Theatre on their new project, Streaming - written and directed by Jon Welch. EXCITING!

Streaming by Jon Welch

This is a three-handed rites of passage piece, using the growing webcam industry as its setting. It also explores a cultural mismatch between a middle-class father and daughter, used to choice and privilege, and a woman whose choices are diminished by isolation, disenfranchisement and bad luck. It has humour, sadness and truth woven into its intriguing storyline. In terms of both design and recurring idiom, the descent of father and daughter is shot through a dark Wizard-of-Oz prism, using projection, macabre puppetry and a translucent set, where private/secret moments, memories, apparitions, can intrude into the on-stage action.

SHOWS ARE, November 6th to 8th at Tolmen, get yourselves down there! More information to come soon.

cube.

This is one of the projects i am helping cube with .

Streaming by Jon welch and the company pipeline Theatre , is looking to be a really hard hitting piece , Like stated above the show looks to test what we as a audience think about a certain industry and change it ? confirm it ? manipulate it?

The point like most theatre is to test us as audience members make us think , and that's what makes us like a piece or at-least go out of or way to see it . The show itself is touring in Cornwall  and has bookings in Cornwall... Because of the collaboration between cube and pipeline i  think their audience is pretty set while they are in Cornwall due to popularity with both companies.

However , this is when my PIC project and my own research comes into play, within this particular rehearsal process that I'm involved in want to document and get to know the regular audience what they like about the work of both companies and see how to effectively expand on this ? or on a another hand see if it doesn't actually need any help because of its loyal audience and standing in Cornwall's thriving theatre scene.

The rehearsals are all go go go! and i can honestly say this will be a show worth going to see!

So on behalf of cube GO AND SEE IT !!

cube

So I've had my first proper week with cube .

I really can't sing their praises higher . I mean throughout this week I have been given the opportunity to take action and have reaponsibilty.

I've been given a small oversee of cubes Facebook and Twitter so GO CHECK IT OUT !
https://www.twitter.com/cubetheatre

So onto exciting projects in the next week I will be helping cube out on their promo film. For after the accident .. YAY !

I will be playing Freddie in the promo who is the main character, Leon's  best friend ... SPOILERSPOILERSDPOILERS !

I joke you'll have to come see and watch it to find out ;)

so on my PIC project front I have started to look at the relationship between theatre and social media . Right now I'm looking at the aspect of communication and realising that it's actually a lot to do with people we know ourselves and sometimes forcing it in the ouics faces so they never forget !

I was told the other day "work should speak for itself " this is so true but sometimes what we theatre people fail to understand is the public who maybe don't go to the theatre on a 24/7 basis need a push or sometimes a really hard shove through the theatre doors and to their seats ; only for them then to realise that watching theatre weather it be from a small or large company is beneficial for all ages .

Theatre allows us to imagine and forget the world we live , it let's  an audience member to become part of a world in which they think they control . The power to imagine is the tool that most of us human beings take for granted.

For anyone to miss out on this kind of experience I think is.a waste. This is where my PIC then focus' this and let's me explore further . Current feedback or responses I have had from my current social media work with cube Is a strong current support for the company.

This bodes well 👌

As it's made me approaching the public a lot easier ! As well as relying on some pals to like and share the page . I'm starting to see things take off . :)

So I've actually made a start A START A START !!

I'm so happy with the work I'm doing and grateful for the opportunity cube have and are giving me . This whole experience so far is what makes me fall in love with theatre over and over and over .

Now I just have to rewrite a PIC form try and get hold I my apprant none exsistent tutor !!!

Updates in the near future

Landing.

So after my last update of PIC project which was none existent and in pieces.... I found possibly the bestest thing for me.

Out of this horrible dark patch which I felt like having part of a mental breakdown as i was just being told to apply for extenuating circumstances , honestly this  just feel like a massive cop out and im not prepared to just give excuses, that's not who I am.....

So yeah for about a good time i was feeling like i had made some the biggest mistakes ever regarding my degree and well I moped and threw myself a pity party for one; which included pork pies, tuna-mayo and chocolate bars, curtsy of the one and only Granddad.

Any-ways back on point, I contacted a Theatre company with help from a friend (and my thanks to them could not be any higher and i am SO SO grateful) The company called Cube Theatre,

ONE WEEK LATER....

I had sent a few emails got a few responses and well I ended up in Exeter helping at Cubes casting for one of their newest productions touring Cornwall in February called After the Accident, ( que me skipping around and maybe squelling a little) So the day went on . I somehow managed to audition myself through a weird circumstances.... I watched about 7 or 8 auditions from very talented actors all playing the role very differently and having something different to say about it.

Being a typical theatre student I made notes and looked at the auditions in a very critical way. Even on myself. The process itself was a repeat each time, being first and foremost a performer i have never really realised this process properly, seeing people do the same speeches and playing with the actors speeches to see if they can take direction. I must say i take my hat off to any director or audition panel... its exhausting.

However, as exhausted i felt the audition were fantastic everyone brought something to the table for us to see .

While on this project Cube and myself will be working with Restorative justice companies to bring awareness to the public and give our future audiences some insight to what the play is all about. (More on that at a later date, as i will be writing a blog post just about that, but if ya want a quick insight now give it a google )

My first day with Cube Theatre , well this consisted of everything i went and travelled around with the artistic director. First off we went to help a museum/school collaboration in Fowey, they are currently filming to help the museum advertise.

We then moved onto Truro school to help with GCSE groups devises. This actually to my surprise was useful and i actually enjoyed myself... i have never ever EVER seen myself as the teaching sort.. truthfully i hate teenagers/children. But then i had power MUAHAHAHAHA no i kid i actually enjoyed directing and was told i have good directing ideas. All these performances were being based off Kneehighs work/mixing it with some sort of fairytale, meaning they had stories to devise off of. Alot of my work with them included asking the simple question of WHY ? we all do it as theatre students we often get caught up in our own projects and forget to ask ourselves of the relevance of a certain part and WHY ? its needed.

So in came MYSELF , i managed to get them to think about how and why they were doing this. So i then moved on to characterization and this was AMAZING i got to push there characters and see what they could do overall i really treasured this experience. I will be going back to work with them after their half term.

We also had a marketing and social media meeting with Hall for Cornwall. This was epic in everyway i was learning and giving my opinion and its all thanks to my new boss Ben the artistic director i cannot speak highly enough. Within this meeting i made contact and networking and now have been invited to go to a talk at the maritime in Fal with another company and im going to be blogging about that tommorow for and with Cube so thats more to come

So yeah a bit of catch up on PIC informally , It great to be back apart from the over all feeling of everyones third year stress....

square one

This explains how I am feeling about life .
After my failed PIC due to circumstances out of my control.

So right now, im starting from scratch....
yep right as everyone else is mid PIC i am here sat in trackies applying and emailing everyone and thing. I am as desperate as they come . Sob story short i have no idea what i'm doing just like clafairy here.

So with my old project out the window. i feel so utterly completely lost and alone in a horrible PIC project kind of way that only a theatre student could possibly understand. I guess for now this the start of something ( Ignore unintentional High school musical reference) .

Yeahhh

That's about it for now a short update so Czeching into the unknown is no more and im figuring out my life .. goodbye PIC
